| With the development of marine science, polarization detection technology has received widespread attention for its significant advantages in underwater clarity imaging and marine ecological monitoring. This paper reviews the application of polarization detection technology in the marine field, including the two major technologies of polarization imaging and polarized light scattering measurement and their theoretical foundations. First, the article introduces the basic principles of polarization detection technology, including the Stokes parameter representation of polarized light and the Fresnel equation, which provides a theoretical basis for understanding the interaction between polarized light and water bodies. Subsequently, it summarizes the applications of polarization detection technology in the fields of underwater polarization imaging and recovery, particulate matter detection, solar flare suppression, and marine ecological monitoring. Finally, the article discusses the challenges of polarization detection technology, especially the adaptability in complex marine environments, and looks forward to the breakthroughs that may be brought about by future technological innovations. |
