Large diameter monopile foundation is the most widely used foundation type for offshore wind turbine. The current design methods, which specifies the ultimate vertical bearing capacity, only considers the ultimate side resistance and the base resistance, but not takes the contribution from internal side resistance into account. This paper, based on the site test pile data of two offshore wind farms in the coastal area of Jiangsu Province, uses API code, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers method and Pile Foundation of Harbor Engineering code to calculate the external side resistance respectively. This paper studied the influence of the soil type, depth on the side resistance ratio, and performed comparative analysis according to the measured data. The research results show that the side resistance ratio near the mudline is relatively small, and the side resistance ratio increases with depth. In the design of ultimate vertical bearing capacity towards offshore wind monopile foundation, the internal side resistance cannot be ignored. |
