The complex flow around the DTMB- 4119 propeller in uniform inflow is investigated using the Fluent software in order to explore the details of the structure of wake. The distribution characteristics of radial velocity, axial velocity, circumferential velocity, vorticity and the propeller total attachment vortex circulation are analyzed, before studying the characteristics of structure of trailing vortex and its evolution laws in wake. The typical characteristics of propeller wake are obtained, such as “tip vortex in Rankine model”, “two layer of vortex sheets”, and “slipstream contraction”. Compared with experimental results, the numerical results show a good agreement. |
